Planning & Zoning Committee
This committee hears requests for conditional use permits, zoning changes and plat submissions and makes recommendations to the city council. A conditional use permit is needed if a space is being used for something other than what it is zoned for or if a business is planning on opening in a building that had a different type of operating business previously.
The committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 a.m. A Planning and Zoning application must be turned in to allow time for publishing in the paper 10 days before the P&Z meeting and to allow time for notification of neighbors within 400 ft. of the property. There is a $150 non refundable permit fee for applications.
Board of Adjustments Committee
This committee hears requests for variances. A variance is needed if applying for a building permit and conditions are outside of what the land use ordinance stipulates. An approved variance is permanent and does not need council approval.
Board of Adjustments Application
The committee meets as needed. A variance application must be turned in to allow time for notification of neighbors within 150 ft. plus right of way of the property. There is a $150 non refundable permit fee for applications.
