Fence Applications reviewed by the City Auditor’s Office to inform applicant of any easements and to verify your fence meets the guidelines. There is no fee for this service.
Please call 811 prior to digging, approval of the fence application does not verify underground wires or pipes. Land Surveyors can verify property lines.

This committee hears requests for conditional use permits, zoning changes, and plat submissions, then makes recommendations to the city council.
A conditional use permit is needed if a space is being used for something other than what it is zoned for or if a business is planning on opening in a building that had a different type of operating business previously.

This committee meets as needed on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 a.m. A Planning and Zoning Application and fees must be turned in by the deadline to be on the agenda for the following month. There is a $150 non-refundable permit fee for applications.

This committee hears requests for variances. A variance is needed if applying for a building permit and conditions are outside of what the land use ordinance stipulates. An approved variance is immediate and permanent and does not need council approval.

Sign Permits may be obtained as a regular building permit. To verify if a building permit is needed for your sign, please read the Sign Ordinance #326 and send a Building Permit Application to Midwest Inspection Services.

Off-site liquor permits for Casselton Liquor License holders are $10.00 and must be submitted at least six (6) days prior to event.
Special Off-Site Permit for City License HoldersOff-site liquor permits for non-city Liquor License holders are $25.00. Applicant must present a $5,000 surety bond naming the City of Casselton as the holder, and obtain Council approval.
